Canadian Residential Schools

A stain on Canadian history. The residential school system was funded by the Canadian government's Department of Indian Affairs and administered by various Christian churches.

The flame in this Time Temple is based on the logo of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. It symbolizes the fires that represent the Seven Sacred  Teachings: Respect, Honesty, Courage, Love, Humility,  Wisdom and Truth. The two birds symbolize how the  spirit is set free when the truth is told.

By acknowledging and taking responsibility for the pain  inflicted on Indigenous children, their families and  communities by the residential school system, we  create a space where healing and reparation can begin.
