Lilliput Gallery

Located in front of 81 Fern Ave., Toronto.

At 13, navigating a new environment posed significant challenges. Each day, I walked half an hour to a newly opened senior public school, surrounded by classmates who were all strangers. The neighbourhood I traversed was upper middle class, characterized by pristine lawns and meticulously maintained homes. This setting often felt confining, embodying the demands of an upwardly mobile sensibility that weighed on me.

However, one house along my route provided a welcome escape. Its front lawn featured three stylized sculptures of human sized creatures, one of which had a long, pointy snout with the word "Lupus" carved into its base. The appearance of these sculptures offered a sense of liberation, serving as a reminder that creativity could thrive in unexpected places.

Years later, in 2018, I had the opportunity to recreate that experience for others by transforming a miniature library into a miniature art gallery in front of my own home. This initiative brings me joy, as it invites both adults and children to explore the possibilities of creative expression and to discover the transcendence that art can provide.
